Sierra de Grazalema, Cádiz

This is a one day tour through the Guadalhorce valley, Sierra de las Nieves, Serranía de Ronda and Sierra de Grazalema, located between Málaga and the province of Cádiz in Spain. 261km of curves through an unique contiuously changing landscape of mountain passes and forests.

Kind of road we will find a lot on this trip.

We leave Málaga towards Coín and Alozaina where we find a very nice road, recently remodelated with good asphalt and low traffic in the morning hours. At Alozaina starts the maybe best section of the tour, well known by the local bikers, low speed curves on an inviting asphalt until we reach the Abejas Pass (820m) in the Sierra de las Nieves. We continue to the Viento Pas (1190m) and from here on we follow an old mountain road down to Ronda.

We go on in direction Sevilla/Algodonales on a faster and more crowded road until we reach the exit to Grazalema. We cross a shady cork oaks forest and arrive at Grazalema. In this pintoresque village we should have lunch.

Now we continue towards the Las Palomas Pass (1157m) to the north and ride down again on an incredible mountain road to Zahara de la Sierra, having a good view on the Zahara water reservoir.

Back at the crossroad Sevilla/Algodales we head back on the Campillos – Jeréz route, at Campillos we take the deviation to Ardales / Málaga to avoid the crowded highway.

De Sitges a Castelldefels

De sobra conocida por los moteros de la zona, la C-61 reúne 80 curvas en 21.6 km, una vista perfecta sobre el mar además de un paisaje magnífico en todo el tramo. Situada en Cataluña, cerca de Barcelona, une las dos poblaciones vacacionales Sitges y Castelldefels atravesando parcialmente el parque natural El Garraf. El asfalto es mejorable, hay algunos guardarrailes de cemento polémicos y los fines de semana tiene bastante tráfico de coches, que quieren evitar principalmente los peajes de los túneles de El Garraf de la nueva autopista.

Von Sitges nach Castelldefels

Für die lokalen Biker ist die Landstrasse C-61 sehr bekannt, mit 80 Kurven, 21.6 km, eine perfekte Sicht auf das Meer, eine tolle Landschaft rund um die Strasse. Sie ist in Katalonien gelegen, in der Nähe von Barcelona und verbindet die beiden Ferienorte Sitges und Castelldefels, verläuft dabei teilweise durch den Naturpark El Garraf. Der Asphalt könnte etwas besser sein und an Wochenenden hat diese Strasse viel Autoverkehr, denn gerne wird die neue Umgehungsautobahn wegen der hohen Maut der Tunnel vermieden.

From Sitges to Castelldefels

A famous section for local bikers, denomination C-61, 80 bends, 21.6 km, a perfect view down on the ocean, great landscape surrounding the road. It is located in Cataluña, near Barcelona and connects the two vacational towns Sitges and Castelldefels and goes partially through the Natural Park El Garraf. The asphalt could be better and it is very crowded on weekends, as it is an alternative route to the new highway, mainly to avoid the high toll of the Garraf tunnel section.

It was a really long wait for all the Super Teneré fans, more than ten years after Yamaha finished producing the previous model of this famous bike. Reasons?, who knows … but the good thing is that Yamaha designed this new version from scratch and the result is stunning.

Desfiladero de la Hermida, in Kantabrien

Der «Desfiladero de la Hermida» ist ein schmales Tal welches durch den Fluss Deva geformt wurde. Dieses Tal liegt in Kantabrien, Spanien und ist von hohen Kalksteinmauern eingeschlossen, die in manchen Sektionen eine Höhe von 600 Metern erreichen. Das Tal und somit die Strasse die durch die Schlucht führt, ist etwa 21 Kilometer lang, mit einer grossen Zahl von Kurven die uns durch eine unglaublich schöne Landschaft bringen. Es ist die längste Schlucht in Spanien und hat ihren Namen von La Hermida, eine der schönen Städte durch die sich diese Strasse windet.

Andere Ortschaften die durchfahren werden und wo sich es sich auf jeden Fall lohnt anzuhalten um sie zu besichtigen sind Lamasón, Cillórigo de Lliébana, Peñarubio, Tresviso, bereits an der Grenze zu Asturien. Diese Strasse ist die einzig mögliche Route vom kantabrischen Meer zum Landstrich Liébana.

Diese Region Spaniens ist recht regnerisch und oft auch sehr kühl, deswegen sollte man die Reise im Frühling oder Sommer angehen.

Desfildero de la Hermida, Cantabria

El desfildero de la Hermida es un estrecho valle situado en la parte occidental de Cantabria, España y fue labrado por el río Deva. Está rodeado por altas paredes de piedra caliza que en algunos lugares alcanzan los 600 metros de altura. El valle y la carretera que lo atraviesa (N-621) mide aproximadamente 21 kilómetros, con una enorme cantidad de curvas atravesando un paisaje maravilloso y único en España. De hecho es el desfiladero más largo de España y hereda su nombre de la población La Hermida, uno de las localidades muy bonitas que atraviesa.

Otras poblaciones que atraviesa esta ruta y que sin duda merecen una parada y visita son Lamasón, Cillórigo de Lliébana, Peñarubio, Tresviso ya bordeando el Principado de Asturias. Esta es la única ruta posible desde la costa cantábrica hasta la comarca de Liébana.

Dado que en esta zona llueve a menudo y en invierno hace bastante frío para ir en moto recomendamos hacer esta excursión en primavera o verano.

Desfildero de la Hermida, in Cantabria

The «Desfiladero de la Hermida» is a narrow valley which was formed by the river Deva. It is located in Cantabria, Spain and is enclosed by high limestone walls, at some sections up to 600 meters high. The valley and road section (N-621) is about 21 km long, with a great lot of bends through an very amazing landscape. It is in fact the longest canyon in Spain and got his name of La Hermida, one of the very pretty villages it goes through.

Other villages which deserve a stop and visit are Lamasón, Cillórigo de Lliébana, Peñarubio, Tresviso, bordering the «Principado of Asturias». It is the only route from the cantabric coast to the district of Liébana, in Cantabria.

Another great section of this wonderful road.

We recommend to travel in spring or summer as this region of Spain is quite rainy and cold.
